Present Simple (Prosto Sadašnje Vreme)

Ovo vreme koristimo za rutine, navike i činjenice – stvari koje se dešavaju redovno ili su uvek istinite.

Potvrdne rečenice (+)

Za lica I, you, we, they koristimo osnovni oblik glagola.

• I **work** in an office. (Ja radim u kancelariji.)
• We **start** work at 9 AM. (Mi počinjemo sa radom u 9.)

PAŽNJA! Za treće lice jednine (he, she, it) na glagol obavezno dodajemo nastavak -s ili -es. Ovo je najvažnije pravilo! 😉

• He work**s** from home. (On radi od kuće.)
• She send**s** a report every Friday. (Ona šalje izveštaj svakog petka.)
• The meeting start**s** at noon. (Sastanak počinje u podne.)

Odrične rečenice (-)

Koristimo pomoćne glagole don’t (do not) i doesn’t (does not).

Za I, you, we, they koristimo don’t.

• I **don't** work on Sundays. (Ne radim nedeljom.)
• They **don't** have our address. (Oni nemaju našu adresu.)

Za he, she, it koristimo doesn’t, a glagol se vraća u osnovni oblik (dakle, nema -s)!

• He **doesn't** work on Sundays. (On ne radi nedeljom.)
• She **doesn't** send many emails. (Ona ne šalje mnogo imejlova.)

Upitne rečenice (?)

Pitanja počinjemo sa Do ili Does.

Sa Do pitamo za I, you, we, they.

• **Do** you work here? (Da li radiš ovde?)
• **Do** they have a website? (Da li oni imaju sajt?)

Sa Does pitamo za he, she, it, a glagol je opet u osnovnom obliku (bez -s).

• **Does** he work here? (Da li on radi ovde?)
• **Does** your company have an office in Belgrade? (Da li vaša firma ima kancelariju u Beogradu?)

How to use it and how to form it

The Present Simple tense is used to talk about routines, facts, and things that happen regularly. For example:

• “I go to work every day.” (routine)
• “The sun rises in the east.” (fact)
• “She drinks coffee in the morning.” (habit)

How to form the Present Simple:

• Positive: Use the base verb.
  I go to work by car.
• Add -s or -es for he, she, and it.
  She goes to work by car.
• Negative: Use don’t (do not) or doesn’t (does not) + base verb.
  I don’t go to work.
  She doesn’t go to work.
• Question: Use do or does at the beginning of the sentence + base verb.
  Do I go to work?
  Does she go to work?

Common time expressions with the Present Simple

Some common time expressions in the present simple are: usually, always, never, on Wednesdays, every Wednesday, twice a week, once a month, in general, every other day.

Facts (things that are always true):

1. Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius.

3. The Earth orbits the sun.

Habits (things we often do):

1. He drinks tea after dinner.
2. We check our phones before going to bed.
3. They eat pizza on Fridays.
